7-Goal Defeat for Former Pirates Coach in Saudi
Ex-Orlando coach suffers heavy loss in Saudi Pro League debut
Seven goals conceded in Al-Batin's thrashing by Al-Hilal
Former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer made a nightmare start to his managerial career in Saudi Arabia after his new club Al-Batin was thrashed 7-0 by Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League on Thursday.
Zinnbauer, who left Pirates in August after guiding them to the MTN8 title last season, was appointed as Al-Batin's new coach last month.
However, his debut in the Saudi league could not have gone much worse as his team was comprehensively outplayed by a rampant Al-Hilal side.
Al-Hilal, who are the reigning Saudi Pro League champions, took the lead in the 10th minute through a goal from Salem Al-Dawsari.
The floodgates then opened as Al-Hilal added six more goals before halftime through Matheus Pereira, Odion Ighalo, Abdullah Al-Mayouf, Michael, and Luciano Vietto (2).
Al-Batin offered little resistance in the second half as Al-Hilal continued to dominate.
Al-Batin's heavy defeat leaves them bottom of the Saudi Pro League table after two games.
