Edmonton Oilers Take Game 1 of Western Conference Final

Oilers' Connor McDavid Scores Overtime Winner Against Dallas Stars

McDavid's Goal Gives Edmonton Early Advantage in Series

The Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars kicked off their Western Conference Final series with a thrilling overtime battle in Game 1 on Thursday night at American Airlines Center. The Oilers ultimately emerged victorious, claiming a 3-2 win thanks to a game-winning goal from their star captain, Connor McDavid.

After a scoreless first period, both teams traded goals in the second. McDavid opened the scoring for Edmonton just over a minute into the period, but Dallas responded quickly with a goal from Tyler Seguin. The Stars then took a 2-1 lead in the third period with a goal from Jason Robertson.

Edmonton refused to give up, however, and tied the game with just over eight minutes remaining in regulation on a goal from Zach Hyman. The game remained tied through the rest of regulation and the first overtime period, setting the stage for McDavid's heroics.

Just 32 seconds into the second overtime, McDavid received a pass from Leon Draisaitl and fired a wrist shot past Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger to give the Oilers the 3-2 win. The goal was McDavid's sixth of the playoffs and gives Edmonton an early advantage in the series.

Game 2 of the Western Conference Final is set for Saturday night at American Airlines Center. The Stars will look to even the series, while the Oilers will aim to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
