Former Analyst at Ole Miss Takes Over Bulldogs Program

Arnett Named Interim Head Coach After Leach's Passing

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State Director of Athletics Zac Selmon announced Monday that Zach Arnett has been relieved of his duties as head football coach effective immediately. Arnett, 35, had been the interim head coach since the tragic passing of Mike Leach in December 2022.

Arnett, a proven leader for the Mississippi State football program throughout his tenure in Starkville, has been named the Bulldogs' 35th head football coach.

Arnett, born September 10, 1986, is an American football coach who currently serves as the head coach at Mississippi State University. He previously served as the head coach at San Jose State University from 2016 to 2022 and as an analyst at the University of Mississippi from 2015 to 2016.
