Real Madrid 3-1 Manchester City: What Happened in the First Leg

Real Madrid and Manchester City played to a 3-1 draw in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

The teams come into the second leg on even footing, with Real Madrid holding a slight advantage due to their away goal.

Real Madrid took the lead in the 12th minute when Rodrygo's shot was deflected into the net by Manchester City defender Ruben Dias. Erling Haaland equalized for Manchester City in the 14th minute with a header from a Kevin De Bruyne cross. Federico Valverde put Real Madrid back in front in the 79th minute with a stunning strike from outside the area.

The match was played at a high tempo, with both teams creating chances. Manchester City had the better of the possession, but Real Madrid were more clinical with their finishing. The result leaves the tie finely poised ahead of the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.
